Sally and her team are based in a specialist orthopaedic hospital working closely with clinicians, carrying out in vitro laboratory studies using human cells and tissues obtained from clinical trials and treatments, and also in testing innovative cell-based treatments in small animal models of osteoarthritis (OA) with collaborators. She has also carried out many years’ of study into the pathogenesis of OA and degeneration of the intervertebral disc.
She welcomes the opportunity to work with our members of the network and improve the efficacy of studies into understanding different anabolic and catabolic pathways with the long term aim of determining how we can influence them to improve the quality of life if individuals.
