In order to decipher the interplay between autophagy and Microsporidia infections in a more realistic model we would like to set up experiments with CACO-2 cells on the Emulate organ on chip system. Like the transwell culture system, the organ on chip grow cells on a porous membrane allowing a complete polarisation of the epithelium but this system add mechanical constraint as well as constant flux of medium on both apical and basolateral facing compartments. This allow a closer mimicking of in vivo conditions and was already shown to critically impact the infection capacity of intracellular bacterial pathogens such as Shigella.
