Research Interests
Parasitology, Symbiosis, Apicomplexa
We are interested in developing our understanding of the apicomplexan endosymbionts known as gregarines, which are ubiquitously distributed in invertebrate hosts, by developing a system capable of maintaining gregarines in vitro. This will enable their utilization as model systems that can be used to expand our understanding of the evolutionary steps along the symbiotic spectrum with the intracellular apicomplexan parasite as endpoint.
