I am interested in organ-on-a chip research activity to develop iPSC-derived models of pulmonary fungal infection. There is an increasing incidence of fungal infection in lung disease and current animal and human in vitro models are limited. The development of high-throughput organ-on-chip models presents a unique opportunity to determine molecular mechanisms behind host susceptibility and pathogen virulence and identify novel therapeutic pathways.
Within the network, I would be keen to open our project experience in electrical engineering utilising lab-on-chip technology, macrophage biology alongside our clinical access to patient cohorts to develop further funding strategies.
